Fokker E.IV

Well my Fokker D.VII is just about done and I will post pictures soon. I need a bit of a breather from them though and have started a Fokker E.IV for a break. Eventually in the next few weeks I will combine and do a dual build with my Fokker DVII in the group build. In the meantime here is the one I am starting and the scheme I am planning to do.



I have an Engine coming from Taurus that I hope I can build as well as this one:

A cowling from Aviattic"



And if it is out in time the new Aviattic CDL decals.

And of course Master Barrel guns, Her Von Buckles itsy bitsy loops, and Gas Patch turn buckles.

Wow James, you are a modelling maniac! Great production rate you've got going here and outstanding quality. I'll be very interested in how you do on the Taurus engine; quite a project in itself I suspect.

Well dont know about a modeling maniac as it takes me so long to build now adays, but I need to glue stuff together so its best to feed the need .
Mark, for sure I will let you know. I love the Taurus stuff and I am sure the engine will exceed my expectations and skill level. I'm really keen on trying the CDL decals if they come out in time. That should be cool.

Well made a start. Wood started and aluminum skin painted. Next up is figuring out how to do the engine worked marks on the aluminum. Have a few ideas to try.





Fuel tank painted and frame painted. Next is detailing the cockpit up some. I didnt sand off the rigging on the forward floor. I dont think it will be noticed.

Hello James:

Progress is being made and that is important.  I have buttoned up the fuselage on my EIII and you are correct, the rigging on that forward panel is barely noticeable.  I tried to figure out how to put those PE panels in but left them off as I was at a loss.  I just got this kit from WNW along with the Walfisch and I think the EIV is my next project.  I am beginning to take a shine to the E series.  For the metal swirls I followed the WNW instructions on line except I used plain old Testors silver.  I practiced on areas that weren't noticeable like the engine support and the inside of the 'cheek' panels and went to town.  Turned out alright I think.  You are coming along nicely on this and I will be scoping it out as you progress and update.

Thanks guys. Mark I will study your bird and see what I have to do. Rag III I tried the WNW method, and the one I ended up with right now is Aluminum paint and a silver Sharpie. Okay I cant seem to get a good shot of the metal work I have experimented on. I hope you get the idea though. Now I'd really appreciate an opinion on my take of the Engine Machined Metal. I'll try to take pics in a better light tomorrow and see if it looks better. Until then what do you think?







And I did some work on the wood. I think it looks okay so far.

I think your swirls look fine.  It is hard to tell from the photo's how distinct they are, but I can see them and that is what is important is that they are there.   The wood on the cockpit floor looks good as well.  I am going to try the sharpie/pencil method on my next one and see how that goes.

Thanks guys. Despite being home the past 2 days I havent got a lot done. Here is where I am though. I built 8 rigging lines for the cockpit and 3 disappeared along with 1 pe piece. Wonder what I will have to sacrifice to find them?







Try and get the wings finished today or tomorrow. and finish up the details in the cockpit so I can button up the fuse.
