Nieuport XI scratch 1:144
« on: July 23, 2014, 03:09:36 PM »
Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum, for the last few years I have been building 1:144 scratchbuilds from WWI and would like to share my latest work with you.

Currently I am working on a Nieuport XI flown by Francesco Barraca, here some photos of the progress so far.

I am sorry fot the photo quality, the parts are really tiny but I am working on an improvement of my photographer skills.

Any criticism and advices are welcome.

Regards

Ondra

1:144 if it wasn't for the giant finger I wouldn't believe you.  Incredible detail at such a size.

Keep ups posted on your progress Ondra please. I admire anyone who works in smaller scales than I can manage.

Great progress on your Nieuport Ondra, it is a very tiny scale but workable and good results can be had, looking forward to seeing more of this build.

You're an illusionist, Ondra!  What you are showing us is scientifically impossible!  Yet that giant finger looks so real. :o

Impressive detailing. I use to build 1/72 models and I find that WWI birds are damn small, so 1/144 are even half that size!

What can I add? I am used to 1/72 scale and that is small enough. To male a rotary engine in that scale and of that quality takes real skill. I take my hat off to you.

Well, I commented on the Brisfit as a stunning piece of work and this is yet another beauty, Ondra.

Many thanks to everybody, I am really pleased you like my Nieuport.

I took a closer look at the engine and will have to make a new one. Firstly it is not as clean as I would like (have to improve my skills with the cyanoacrylate), secondly the symetry of 2 cylinders is wrong and thirdly it is 0,5 mm too big and would not fit under the cowling. But I hope to have figured out a better way to build it in a cleaner way and in correct size. If everything goes as expected, I will post photos of the new engine next week.

Once again thanks for your kind comments and all the best.

Ondra
