I am weak. I have sinned. Soon I shall fondle it's rumpled textures. Anyone else weakened for the new Tiffie?

I am very tempted. It is a cool aircraft and what I've seen of the kit, it is a beauty.

Ordered mine months ago - always a favourite aircraft. And I would of drooled through the shop window like a love sick puppy as a kid - well guess what? - I'm a grown up now and I can go buy myself one ... there's got to be some compensation right?!!

It's definitely my favorite WWII aircraft and from what I've seen here:

and considering it includes No. 440 Sqn, RCAF 2nd Tactical Air Force markings in the box, I'm taking the plunge too. What a beast though. I may have to permanently display it on the dining room table. I'm sure my wife will be in complete agreement.  ::)

I was tempted so so tempted, SWMBO even cleared the funds.

Then Takom announced the Mk IV tank kits, then WNW released the Roland C.II and OAW D.Va I've got the nod from SWMBO to order a DFW if I desire and I think a 1/24th Tiffie is just pushing my luck now. ;D

Maybe once some blogs showing wonderous things I may succumb but my modelling bench is like some nightmare scrapyard with countless unfinished projects littering it and now I'm upto my eyes in bits of D.VII... lol

Well, seeing how it's now landed here in North America, I took the plunge and placed an order for the Tiffie. The downside is that as it's so expensive, my wife will assume ownership of said kit until my birthday in November. I'm not about to complain.

No, not at all

WWII aircraft just don't interest me anymore, I'd rather see them flying than WWI aircraft but I'd rather model WWI aircraft, living 30 minutes from Shuttleworth and Duxford I'm in the fortunate position of doing both.

Lucky, lucky man RB! But that must be one big wardrobe your child has to hold a box of that size. My local model shop deep in the heart of France received two of the Typhoons and sold them both the same day.

Be sure to check the canopy ASAP as mine had the small crack that seems to be pretty common. I had a replacement from Airfix within a week of requesting it, and that's pretty good service to Canada.

I don't have any interest in the subject or the scale, but the kit looks spectacular. I wish Airfix would turn their attention to some large scale WWI subjects.

I went along as a guest to a local model club (Gravesend Military Modelling Society) on Saturday afternoon.   One of the members there had this Typhoon kit out and was working on the model.

A very, very impressive kit.   The quality of the molded detail is superb on each part all on large sprues.   You  also get a good, comprehensive instruction booklet,  good decals (for four marking schemes) all in a nice large size box.   The person building this kit could not speak highly enough of it and mention the overall fit (so far) is excellent.

The only flaw seems to relate to the canopy.   I was shown the one originally supplied in the kit.   There was a hairline crack to the front and a distinct molding flaw (like a sink mark) towards the rear of the canopy.  The modeller explained that it seems to be because Airfix have attempted to mold the canopy true to scale size and is giving production problems.   After contacting Airfix he received a replacement part promptly though.

Now I'm not really into WW2, but I must admit this might have to be on a future wish list for me .................
