new here. Anyone references of seat of Albatross D5
« on: July 21, 2014, 09:07:33 PM »
Im new to this site and this is my first WW1 model. I have a lot of experience in ship building and dont mind some moderate scratch building.

Im building a WNW Albatross D5. The seat strikes me as simplistic. The sides seem to be leather bound wood? but whats the base? I cant tell if the base is supposed to be a cushion or wood. I cant find any reference pictures to show one way or another.
If there is a cushion is it detachable. I cant imagine it being out in the rain so you can get your bum wet.
Any clear , helpful references would be greatly appreciated :)

And for a first time . hello to you all :)

Welcome Andy.

Heres a link to TVAL's repro D.V theres a few images with the seat shown (these are taken by Jamo, one of our members)The seat is pretty much as original but without the lap belt slots. Yes the seat in the kit is rather simplified.

Cushion wise it can depend It's said no cushion fitted if the pilot wore a chute as he sat on that instead.

Here is a link to photos of an Albatros D.III seat and cushion that may be helpful.
