Roland CII early. WNW 1/32 naturally.

So I may be a bit quiet of late but I've been plodding on. This is my interpretation of Profile *C* I've purposefully gone for a rough in field painted look. Also I picked up something WNW should have noticed. I have had to scratch a new header tank.

She's far from finished, lots of little things to do as well as the rigging. I think the hand painting in places may nee a little work.

Taurus rocker box assembly & inlet manifold nuts used. lagged my WNW manifold with cord. Oddly some of the decals gave me gyp namely the fuselage ones lifting  as I overpainted the originals. Little mods like the pilots foot step opened up just to give a little interest.

Anyway heres some in prog shots The images made me aware there is more to finish on her than I first thought... curse that macro lens.

I like the "used field" finish you've achieved. The prop sleeves are really well done.......how.....material etc etc? The strap with a buckle across the spinner really adds to that little gem. It's been a while since the fabled oak stump has graced these pages, nice to see it back.

Thanks guys. Sadly the old oak stump has suffered over the last winter Lance. Its not th solid lump it used to be.

The prop covers are coffee tin foil  seams folded over and gently creased over a spare prop. (that's when I was scratching my head why 2 WNW Axial props from 2 different Merc Engine sprues were different widths.)

Strap and buckle are just scrap photo etch. The prop covers only in first coat of paint & lots to finish. I need to get my head in the zone and have a few days rigging. I've this, an Albie a Pup and 2 DVII's all about ready for rigging.

simple, but adds a lot to the model.  The paint work is really good, just

Hello Keith:

Nicely done so far.  I too like the "field look" and the color scheme.  Those colors go well together, nice contrasts.  I haven't popped for this kit.................yet.  Looking to see what others do and comments.  I like your prop covers.  Is the tank over the rocker boxes the one you had to scratch?  Looks great.
Looking forward to seeing you progress on this and the others.

I really like those prop covers. What I don't like so much is that footstep on the left side (the one in the middle of the Iron Cross) - shouldn't that footstep be black as well?

Could you please show a picture of the new header tank?

Great looking model of one of my absolutely most favourite machines! I simply love the way your painted linen looks like - you can almost feel it  Also the subtle difference between the veneer covered  fuselage and linen wings is a spot on in my opinion. She`s going to be a true beauty!

For this  aircraft yes. You see this tubular header on a few aircraft. Pity WNW missed it in the picture they put in the handbook.

hers a shot of the other side of the nose. showing the header a little better.




One of the top. I have the cap to apply yet and the header itself to repaint as it fouled the prop at first and I had to re champher the ehd. I used the 3rd spare header tank in the kit to make the feed from the cylinder. Brass strips are loose but will secure it to the rocker boxes.
