Nieuport 28c1 95th Aero Sqn #14 (Ser 6177?)

    Does anyone have an explanation or even theory on the following contradiction.......................??? ???
Windsock Datafile 36 has a photo, pg 32, of this aircraft of the 95th Aero at Toul, France, June 1918, and a Profile with "red 14" numerals, S/N unknown and as flown by Lt. W H Taylor.
    I have the Superscale Decal Set MS320243 for the same aircraft as flown by 1Lt. Quentin Roosevelt at Gengoult, June 1918, with S/N 6177, "black 14 numerals with red outline" and significantly a white painted top deck from cockpit to tail.
    The only scenario I can speculate on is that Roosevelt took over Taylors' aircraft and had some of the painted details changed? (or possibly the info related to the photos is incorrect)
    I'd love to hear any comments out there before it's time to start painting this little devil :-\........guess I'd better start a Build Log as well!

Hey, Lance!  No contradiction at all.  They are two different aircraft.  Lt. Taylor's red 14, N.6222, was crashed at Toul in June 1918.  Roosevelt's N.6177 inherited the "14", but in black.  Quentin's white triangle on the turtle deck is believed to be his flight leader marking.  There is a really excellent article about Quentin Roosevelt in Over the Front Volume 27 number 4 Winter 2012.  I highly recommend it if you're doing Quentin's ship.  It can be ordered from the OTF website and well worth the price. http://www.overthefront.com/shop/league-membership/147

   Wow! That was fast and certainly clears up my confusion! I just ordered the OTF Back Issue per your recommendation and I can now get on with my project with assurance that it's an accurate Build.
   I've read a bit about young Quentin Roosevelt; he had to be a genuine Patriot to sail off to war as the president's Son. What an amazing generation, and I wonder, where have some of those very noble and sincerely felt values gone, or am I just getting to be a bitter old man?!
  Thanks for the info on this, and I'm looking forward to reading the OTF you recommended.
