You have me captivated Mark with the work you have done on the engine so far, by sanding off all the rocker arm assembly detail  has now got me very intrigued on how you are going to replace them, it is hard enough doing that in 1:32 scale let along in this tiny 1:72 scale, please keep us updated.

Me too Des! The engine rocker arms show prominently on the model so I wanted to make sure to "give them the business" too.  :)

Speaking of the engine, I was having a little trouble getting the engine aligned and seated high enough on the kit formers so I used some Apoxysculpt and made a little bed for it to sit in and positioned the engine properly as the Apoxysculpt set up.

My intentions were to take the engine and Apoxysculpt out so I could insert it back in after working on the engine but I got called out to work and forgot so it's in there permanently now.  :o  No problems though, at least it is in position and more than steady enough to work on.

I need to check a few more things and I'll close up the fuselage.

The fuselage is closed up now and I've started work on the cabane struts. the kit struts look a little thick to me........

.........so I'll replace them with some profiled strut material I have on hand...........

The fuselage has no place to install the cabane struts so I drilled and carved the spots needed. Here's one..........

All of the strut locating points are drilled out on the wings now............

Not very pretty yet but it's coming along................

I've pinned the lower wings................

I use graph paper to straighten the fuselage and wings.................

A little bend gives an approximate dihedral of the lower wing.................

Usually, when I attach the lower wings, I attach one wing (in this case the left or port wing) then drill the other side (starboard side) to match it. Here you can see how may times I had to try to get it right.....................

If it didn't line up I inserted a plastic "plug" of round styrene and glued it securely with Superglue and hit it with Insta-Cure and drilled again.

more soon and thanks for checking in,

Mark

This is really impressive. I have never worked with a resin kit but you are making it look so easy - sure sign of a master at work. Interesting to see that you have alignment problems too!

Thanks Ian! I was looking at the front of the plane while typing and mixed them up... :o  I remember when I was young and Dad saying just remember that "left" and "port" have 4 letters. I fixed them in the post.

Looking good. I'm amazed at you fellows who can model such a small kit and still add so much detail. Very nice indeed.
