LVG C.VI - Ardpol
« on: June 26, 2014, 11:50:18 AM »
Hi everyone,

Work has been keeping me pretty busy but I've been able to check in everyday to see what's happening. There are some fine and inspiring builds going on here and I was missing the model room so I pulled a 1/72 kit out of the stash to jump into and do a quick build.

The resin in this kit is really great. I think the only thing I'll replace are the struts. I've spent a couple of days on the interior and added some Tom's Modelworks German Interior and Eduard Seatbelts photoetch along with some instrument guages from the spares box.

Next I'll work on the engine.

Thanks for looking in,

Mark

Hello Mark:

It looks like you are making quick work of this.  The interior looks the business and will certainly look great once completed.  It sure is tiny isn't it?

Looking forward to seeing you progress through the build.

Best

Mark

Mark,
Very quick and Outstanding work on the innards! I had to double check the scale as I really thought it was 1/48th not 1/72nd!

Lovely work on the interior Mark, the small scale is not evident with the fine workmanship you are applying, well done.

Thanks for the kind words Mark, Rick Des, and Jacek. I was looking over the wings and tail and I've decided to separate the control surfaces and use the 1/72 Aviattik lozenge decals and I'll have some more pictures soon.

I agree completely with Des, Mark!  Especially on the variation in wood tones.  Hard to do in 1/48 scale.
Cheers,

What a super start you've made here, Mark.  The interior really looks the part.

Best wishes

Thanks Terri, Bud, Sasho and Nigel! I appreciate you looking in on my build, this is a really fun little kit.

I've separated the ailerons and elevaltor. The ailerons needed some sanding and filler but that was about all.

I did a little painting on the Benz engine but I wasn't happy with the molding of the rocker arms so I sanded them off.

More soon,

Mark

Great work so far Mark, especially on the interior. Where do the instrument decals come from?

Thank you Dave!

@ Ian - I'm not sure where those decals came from Ian. Most likely some 1/72 Fokker and Nieuport decal sheets. I bought a big collection of decals on Ebay a few years ago and they were in there.

Mark,
Incredible interior detail work for 1:72 Scale! It never ceases to amaze me how you "Braille Scale Guys" just keep getting better and better. Very nice work, looking forward to following more.
Cheers,
