Very impressive collection, Squiffy, I admire your speed.

Btw. on the first photo of the Bristol scout the prop seems to be rotating - how did you do that???

I aimed a fan at it. To get it to rotate freely enough for this to happen I hollowed out the shaft of the engine by drilling it with successively larger drill bits until I could push a dressmaker's pin down it. The prop was drilled through to allow a length of brass tube (with an inside diameter large enough for the pin to fit through) to be push-fitted into it. The pin is glued into the engine. The friction between the polished pin and the brass tube is so low that the prop will turn with the slightest blow.

That is a lovely Scout. Who was the kit manufacturer? The standard of your models is amazingly high especially considering the speed that you build them.

It's from MAC Distribution. Prezemol has built one if you want to see an 'under construction' and his is far nicer than mine.

I think it's going that way! 

Here's one I've had under construction for several weeks, on and off, but have now completed. It's the Eastern Express kit of an Aviatik (Berg) D.1. The struts are very thin and fiddly and there didn't appear to be any positive location of the lower planes into the fuselage, so I had to estimate their position, drill the fuselage and pin and glue them.

The kit wheels were awful! Too fat and with overly large moulded spokes, so I replaced them with a pair from a Fokker D.VII. Maybe not to the purist's taste but it looks better for them, IMHO.

The colour scheme and lettering is that of Oblt. Frank Linke-Crawford.

Linke-Crawford's kite is one of the most discussed Aviatiks and if you ask 4 experts you get 8 opinions on the colours.

I have to say you did a great job with the decals, they fit very nicely.

I've begun to build a small diorama, on which to show my German crates. At the moment all it consists of is a strip of grass mat and a half-finished hangar...
