Can Anyone Identify This?

I found it on a site dedicated to communications technology in Norway. The caption said only WWI aircraft with wireless.

It looks like a morse code key on the box, so maybe it's a manned kite of some sort.....there would presumably be a telegraph connection to the ground for the morse.....

To me it looks like the large box contains the sounder, which the telegraph operator
hears morse code from the ground.  I believe the key for sending information
is to the left of the box.  Interesting picture, OM.  Thanks for posting.
