Good work, Ernie -

How on earth did you manage to drill into such a tiny part on the strut?  This part always looks too tiny to drill through to me.

Regards

Dave

Rick, Bob, Justin, Martin, Dave and Lance, thank you for dropping by.  I really feed
on your encouragement. :D

Justin & Dave...The cross bracing is done with 0.12mm monofilament fishing line,
the ferrules are 0.5mm brass tube, both painted with Gunze Mr.Metal Stainless Steel.  The
struts in the kit have the attachment points molded on and there is just enough room to drill
a 0.3mm hole.  As it is pretty touchy for my shaky hands ;), I use a sewing needle chucked
in an Xacto handle to carefully make a dimple for a guide in placing the drill bit. The only
thing to watch for is when you attach the bracing wire be careful as you tighten it as the
attachment is pretty fragile, but if you don't overdo the stress, it holds fine. Once the job is
done, and the lines are tightened, a small drop of CA helps keep it secure.
Thanks for the intrest, guys.  I hope this answers your questions.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hi Ernie

More work of such a high quality. I've opened the box of my Pup to have a look at the kit struts to see where you had been drilling and my jaw dropped! Wow, well done - such attention to detail.

Best wishes
Nigel

Hello my friends.  Time for another little update.  The struts are in place and
have started the job of connecting the cross-bracing.  Nothing different here,
I'll be using the 0.12mm monofilament with 0.5mm tubing throughout.

Moving to the tail, most of the control lines are connected now, the lines when finished
are painted with Gunze Mr. Metal Stainless Steel, which I think looks just right...thanks Des & Lance! :D

One thing I wanted to mention.  When painting wires etc., remember to stick a bit of kitchen/paper
towel between the wire and the tail or wing surface.  It tends to spray fine drops as you go.  I
thankfully noticed this before I moved to the top surface and the mess on the underside should
be covered fairly well with a little weathering. :-[ ;D

Next up, the undercarriage. :)

I will skip the gory details of putting the u/c together as it fits like
a dream...even I got it together without any trouble whatsoever! ;D

As I keep thinking, whoever said "no strings attached" wasn't thinking of biplanes. ;) ;D

That's about it for now, my fellow forumites.  The dreaded mounting of the upper wing
looms on the horizon, but for now all is good. :)  Thanks for stopping by and as always,
I would appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Betty is looking just splendid, Ernie! ;D  No worries about the top wing--in my experience with this kit, it fits just as well as the undercarriage. :D  Keep calm and carry on!

Cheers,

Bob
