Hi Mark,
Sorry for jumping in... but yes, this line is what I use for 90% of all my rigging.  So, in answer, it's all good!

Cheers,
Bob

 ;)
No worries Bob:  I will have to get some as my spool of 40 year old "invisible thread" is almost gone.  I was beginning to get apoplectic over the thought of replacing it with an equally good product that works so well with your eyelets and tubes.  Now I know and my apoplexy is gone.

Thanks

Mark

Hello everyone.  Time for a bit of news...Finally, coming out
of the shadows, the Pup is a biplane. :D

The upper wing went on without any problems.  Thank you WnW, for saving
me from my impending breakdown over such things.

Now onto the engine.  It was put together without any extras, other than fine
copper wire for the spark plug leads...thanks for the great idea, Bertl!  The
paint was Gunze Mr. Metal Stainless Steel, oversprayed with Tamiya Smoke,
and given a wash of MIG's 502 abteilung oil and grease.  I love that stuff. ;D
the exhaust tubes were painted with Citadel paints, Warplock Bronze.  I got that
idea from on of our amazing modellers and for the life of me I can't think of who,
so thank you a bunch anyway!
after that the whole thing was sealed with Model Master Sealer.  Job done. :D

I know that the exhaust tubes don't mate with the cylinders, and I thought of
trying to fix that, but decided that I didn't want to take the chance of screwing
it all up, especially as they really don't show much at all when the cowling is on. ;)
Wingnuts could improve that bit anytime they wish. ;) ;D

The one "oops" I made was losing the plastic retaining clip on the shaft so in a fit
of ingenuity I replaced it with brass wire.  Shades of Bo! ;D

Well, nothing left to do but put the engine up where it belongs...

I forgot that I had previously done the propeller.  Nothing fancy there, just a base
of Tamiya Wooden Deck Tan, covered with brown water colour from a tube and
then airbrushed Tamiya Clear Orange until the colour looked about right...I hope! ;D

Ta Da!

Well there you have it.  We are up to date now, with the completion of the
rigging next to do. after that, some weathering and that would pretty much
complete Betty.
Thanks to everyone for dropping by to have a look.  As usual, any suggestions
or advice would be much appreciated.  Until later...

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Ernie:

This is coming along nicely.  I like your engine work, looks like it has seen service.  You have done an outstanding job on this to date.  Looking forward to seeing it buttoned up.

Best

Nice, realistic looking engine Ernie. Your rib shading seen from above in the one shot just looks superb. I aim for the same result but invariably fall short. She's shaping up to be a real looker.

Cheers,

Chris

I knew you could do it, Ernie!  Looks great with the top wing on her.  Almost done.  Outstanding work on the engine and prop.  They look fantastic.
Cheers,
Bud

I agree with the others Ernie. This one is looking very nice, like a Pup should. I especially like the prop. Keep up the good work

Mark, Bob, Lindsay, Martin, Chris, Bud, Dave, Rick, Tom and Terri, thank you all
for your generous and supportive comments.  You are all modellers that inspire
me to try to improve with each build.
Von Bob, you know you want to make one...I can feel it from here, especially
as those teeny eyelets seem to be made for this model. ;);D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Well my friends, time to put the "finished" stamp on the Pup.  The rigging
went very well with no problems...even the double flying and landing wires.
I guess the main deviation was not trying to install the aerodynamic RFC wires.
That is way beyond my abilities. ;D  The build was very enjoyable and while
I am certainly not in the league of most here, I am happy with it.  I would recommend
the Pup to anyone.  It produces a very attractive little aeroplane.

The one thing I wasn't all that happy with was the underside.  I probably went
a little overboard on the "dirtying". :-[

So there you have it.  Thanks to Wingnut Wings for a wonderful model kit.
Now where do I go from here? ;) ;D
As always, any comments and suggestions are gratefully received. :D

I will post a little snippet in the Completed section in a couple of days. :)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Simply gorgeous, Ernie, and the underside looks fine.  I honestly don't think it's possible to "over dirty" the belly of a rotary powered bus.  You did a brilliant job overall and Betty is my favorite Pup scheme.
Cheers,
Bud
