LF 1:72 night lozenge decals
« on: April 30, 2014, 07:14:02 AM »
Hello,

I'm looking for night colour lozenge decals in 1:72 scale. I'm starting a build of Roden's Gotha GVa and the decals, provided with the kit are not exaclt good and right looking
I would like to buy a sheet like this one or something similar.

I hope someone will have a sheet that he would liek to part with and save my build!

Best regards,
Sasho

Hi, Sassho,

GVa's were often covered in 5 colour regular "lozenge" then oversprayed dark blue as operations switched to night missions - not seen anyone yet use our joined lozenge sheets for such a scheme so I have to ask is there a demand?....

(Oh, and you'll still need many sheets to cover a Gotha or Staaken!)

Best wishes, Richard

Hi Richard,

this is a solution to my problem :) I will probably contact you in the following days if I don't get anything else.

Best Regards,
Sasho

You can contact Doug at [email protected].   I have a set for the same kit and they are very, very nice. To be fair, in my experience, if you order from Doug it can be a lengthy process.

I have the 6 sheet Staaken pack of this lozenge - it is not cheap, but it IS worth the money!

compare this to the Roden Staaken decals:

I would recommend them!

Thank you guys for the feedback, I will try getting a decal list from Doug again, but last time all my attempts were in vin. Communicating with him is like sending messages via pigeons in the dark ages of Europe :-/!
If not I will probably go with Richard idea of using upper surface 5 colour Lozenge and spray it with darkblue or put it over dark blue surface.
I even considered buying those Staaken decal set as the coours, while different, are quite closer to the actual thing than the Roden's interpratation!

Still I hope that someone wil shout that he stashed a Gotha decal set and won't need it

Best regards,
Sasho

PS: its about time WnW produce a model with night lozenge camo, so producing aftermarket decals will be profitable enough for Aviattic and/or other decal companies to come with such decals.

Don't forget the AEG G.IV has already been announced - it may be worth holding back on the Gotha a little while....

Just chipping in, in case Richard/Aviattic are trying to gauge possible demand for night lozenge -
I'm another one with a Gotha and a Staaken in the stash who would dearly like to swap out the Roden decals for something rather better.
Yes I know it wouldn't be cheap but the end result could be properly impressive

Hopefully
