Okay folks:
The Snipe is done. I was going to do a build log but time, weather, jobs, motorcycling etc., got in the way. I managed to finish it. It isn't one of my better efforts but I am happy with it. I would do another one. I think Autumn, Winter and Spring are the best modeling times, summer isn't the best. Anyway, it is a notional war time scheme as the scheme in the instructions is post war.

I painted it using Tamiya acrylics as called out in the instructions. The grey looks a little too dark, but; it is a notional scheme. I experimented more with oils, next time I may start to weather the splatter on the underside.

I used EZ line for the cabane struts and in between the interplane struts prior to attaching the upper wing. I used my 40 year old invisible thread for the rest of the rigging for strength. I used Bob's buckles eyelets and tubes for the attachment points.

For some reason it was not a labor of love and I really had to push myself to finish it. Once done, I really liked it.

I used EZ line for the plug wires as well, but they aren't visible at all once the engine is placed in the cowling. I did weather the engine using a combination of acrylics and oils.

I would like to do another one and use the brushed metal technique that I think Tom R used. That one is a stunner.
Each kit is a learning experience and this one was no different. The fit and assembly sequence is very nice. No problems or surprises, very straight forward. The tail feathers and rigging back there was a bit of touch and go, but in true Marine Corps fashion, I managed to accomplish the task. I did use Gaspatch Turnbuckles and did double rig the rudder bar as per the instructions. A challenge, but as mentioned, a learning experience. Getting my chops up for a Bif.
