Roland C.II window curtains - inside or out?
« on: April 20, 2014, 02:31:28 PM »
Were the painted "window curtains" seen on some Walfisch applied to the inside or outside of the glass?   Or could it have been either depending on the specific aircraft?.  I've studied photos in the Windsock Datafile but can't tell for certain.  Having just received the lovely WNW C.IIa, and planning on building the scheme with curtained windows, I was wondering which side of the window inserts to apply the decals!   The instructions give the impression that they should go on the outside but as you are required to paint the white, it makes more sense to me to apply them on the inside.

Cheers,
Eric

I have to second that... unless of course they flipped the windows down to paint them on the inside.  ::)

Also, a few had  real lace curtains too-on the inside.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for posting that, I was just about to ask whether the curtains were really used, or painted on.  In the case of the latter that would explain the WNW decal, but I think a scaled down version of real curtains would look better?
