PART Poland etch kits 1/72 scale
« on: April 20, 2014, 05:14:17 AM »
Has anyone used the etched sets from PART in Poland?

I have seen them on Jadar hobbies website after a quick check most of the WWI 1/72 etch sets are for roden kits (Which I have only one in the stash, the rest are Revell, Pegasus, one Frog Vimy, two airfix and an Academy).

My question is has anyone used them if so how were they and also has anyone used them on kits other than the specified Roden kits.  I am considering trying a few to see what happens.

Thanks all,

Regards

Justin

I have the PART sets for every model in my stash which has them available! I may not use all of it, but I'm especially impressed with the radiators and engine panels with cooling slots etc. This is where these sets really shine. Here are pics of the sets for SPAD VII, SE5a and Pfalz XII - if you'd like pics of any others, I probably have them, so let me know and I'll post them.

Interior framework is a good guide but may not fit well unless you really thin out the fuselage halves.
The seatbelt and seat sets are excellent, as are the control horns, but the wheels ar not so good, the spokes being a little too thick. Prop bosses are also worth the cost, even though they give you 4 or 5 bosses for each of about 6 aircraft (including a SPAD SA2 - can't think why you'd need 5 of those, but they do work for other models even if not 100% accurate!)

i have a few part sets and like stated above i dont used the whole thing but the parts i used have been an improvement on kit parts. i only have 1 in 1/72 the spad a2/a4 and it has every bracket and handle imaginable. on the 1/48 and 1/32 sets i like the way they increase the depth of finished pieces by stacking photoetched parts.

The two sets I ordered arrived, the look fantastic, but my god some of the 1/72 etch is tiny!  I started modelling by building 1/700 scale ships (have now moved 1/350 and 1/144 and mostly subs and uboats) to get away from tiny etch, I just used to feed von hungry carpet monster!  I may have to rethink my modelling strategy!
