Hello everyone
« on: April 12, 2014, 09:20:44 AM »
I've been modelling for ever or so it seems but aircraft have never played a major part in my hobby.
That was until about twelve months ago when I started to look into the history of early Naval Aviation.
As my main area of interest is 1/700 & 1/350 ships it was I suppose logical that at some point I would have to look into aircraft that were carried on-board these.
However a fellow club member of mine has pointed out that I may enjoy trying my hand at WW1 aircraft due to, as he puts it, all the fiddly bits, Which I take it he means the rigging.
So I have now started a Choroszy Modelbud 1/72scale Caproni Ca.3 and have just purchased a 1/48 Roden Fokker D.V11.

Oh dear what have I started

Hello Royston and welcome to the forum, also welcome to WW1 modeling. As your friend has said - all the fiddly bits - but the rigging in my eyes is the best part of making these WW1 biplanes. I hope you enjoy your transition into WW1 aircraft modeling and I hope to see photos of your Caproni Ca.3 soon. The forum has a very friendly member base with some very talented modelers who are all willing to share their knowledge, please feel free to ask any question you wish, I'm sure they will be answered promptly.

Welcome aboard! A Ca.3 as a "starter"? Wow, you had better like the "fiddly bits" - plenty on that one!

Thanks everyone, great to be here.
I've had a nose around the site and the workmanship/dedication of the builds is awesome.
Can't promise anything as good but definitely have the bug now.

Welcome to the forum, Roy.  I'm sure you will feel right at home in what
I think is the best early aviation and Great War site around.  Good to
have you join us.

Cheers,
