It's like a trip back in time, Dave, and you are doing wonders with this old classic. Nicely added details and great brush painting, in fact nicely done all around.
Cheers,
Lance

Ed/Lance - thank you both.

I'm really pleased that others like my brush painting - a nice boost during a build.

Dave

Excellent work on such an old model, Dave.  I think the colour scheme you have
chosen to do is great and your brush painting abilities are really good. I look forward
to the next updates. Well done!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

This is coming together very well Dave, your brush painting is superb and you are achieving excellent results, the camo showing through the lovely red is subtle but evident. The underside blue is very nice and the decals look really good, well done so far.

Des.

PS, good job with the stitching under the fuselage.

All,

I'm starting to worry I've become a bit of bore on this build (I am getting this one together quickly) so apologies!

However, I did some more work over the last couple of evenings.  I have now painted, applied decals, fitted and rigged the top wing.  Fitting the upper wing proved to be a bit of a challenge - tricky getting the cabane struts to fit (when installed on fuselage the part that attaches to underside of wing were angled and not straight - wing attachment slots are straight) so involved twisting the cabane struts at the top to correctly meet the wing attachment point on the underside.  Got there in the end though - all three wings have aligned beautifully when view from top and bottom.

However, I have had to settle for a less than perfect fit to the cabane struts, especially on the port side.  Try as I might I could not get then to match the angle of the lower strut already in place.  In the end, settled (after lots of shunting around) for the best fit/angle I could obtain.   I hope it does not look too bad?

So I am now on the 'downhill slide' with this build now - only the landing gear, under wing skids and prop to go!

One thing worth mentioning is the quality of the kit decals.   They are superb - very easy to work with and react especially well to decal setting/softening solutions.   In fact, they put to shame some of those supplied in other, more expensive kits.   I really liked working with them.

More to follow in due course.

Dave

Looks wonderful Dave!  I havn't seen this scheme applied in a while, so it's a nice reminder. ;D  This model really looks like a Dreidecker to me! ;)  Excellent modelling on an older classic kit.

Cheers,

Bob

Last update -

A few shots of the landing gear and lower wing skids prior to installing.

All installed

Work on the prop - first view of basic laminated wood colour painted on free hand

Once dried, stained using artist oils - mix of burnt sienna and burnt umber applied then carefully brushed out to (hopefully) give the right varnished colour

View of the completed prop - once oil paint dried (overnight) painted on clear orange then placed decals in place.  Lastly, clear coated using matt varnish and painted boss.

Prop then installed and model completed

Thank you to all those who supported me during this quick build.

Regards

Dave

Hello Dave:

This really turned out nice.  As Martin said, a good clean build.  It is neat to see these old kits worked on and turn out so well.

Best
