1/72 Bleriot XI "Penguin" trainer
« on: March 23, 2014, 08:17:07 AM »
Evening All,

Here are some more images of the Bleriot XI Penguin trainer which I have been posting in the scratch builds section recently. This was not nearly as difficult as it may look to some and should be well within the capabilities of many of you who post pictures and builds on this site. Indeed if you have done any detailing at all this could well be one for you, albeit in another scale. I also think that a conversion from an existing kit would be straightforward if anyone is thinking about it.

There is more information about this machine and the training of pilots in the Bleriot school in the scratch build section for those who are interested and have not already seen it.

Thanks for looking.

If in 1:32 scale I would say you have done a brilliant job, but to build this model to such perfection in 1:72 scale is amazing. You have created a superb model of the Bleriot XI Penguin Trainer and all the components look to be very accurate for the scale you used. Your CDL colour is excellent and the rigging is very well done. My congratulations to you on producing a beautiful model, well done.

I would say that you've achieved a perfectly in-scale rickety effect! Well done, LM.

She turned out beautifully, LM!  Truly amazing work in 1/72 scale.
Cheers,

LM, you are much too modest.  The Penguin, particularly in 1/72 scale really
is a little jewel.  Thanks very much for sharing with us.  Will you be tackling
another scratch-build project soon?

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Really an impressive Model LM, and particularly in the "Tweensy Scale"! Rob said it very well, excellent portrayal of unique subject. I'd read of this little beast, but had no idea what it looked like until now.......... very nicely done!
Cheers,
Lance

Outstanding!  As has been mentioned, nothing looks out of scale and that you did it in 1/72nd is doubly amazing.
Thanks for posting this.

Thanks to all of you for your very kind comments. I am very encouraged by these positive comments from modellers who's work I greatly respect and I greatly appreciate the fact that you have taken the time to post them.

Will you be tackling another scratch-build project soon?

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Yes Ernie, I will be finishing my project to build all of the British designed pushers that saw active service with the RFC/RNAS, so I will be working on the Airco DH 1A. This will be a conversion from that old Airfix workhorse the DH 4. I will start posting material in the future.
