Check this out, quite eye catching. It is a real-time earth wind map showing a globe of the world, rotatable by dragging with the mouse to any centre position or NSEW orientation,
zoomed by rolling the mouse wheel, click on a point (which becomes marked by a small yellow-green circle) to see a text box showing position (latitude & longitude), temperature in Fahrenheit, and current wind speed, double-click on the small circle to change the brightness of the image and single click to get full colour back (can’t see much point in that).
Here’s the URL:
http://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=164.61,-37.00,640It incorporates the position that is to be central when the page opens – in this case NZ.
The final three digits determine the scale of the map – smaller number = smaller scale. There’s a limit on the range allowable.
