Odd that the Osprey site shows a different cover for the Recon book.

Yes, Kevin, you're right about the cover. I bought a copy at Telford. and the cover artwork shows a DH 9 jin the process of bringing  down a Fokker D.VII which is falling away streaming smoke. (I posted a photo in the latest acquisition thread.)

I think this is a really important and relatively neglected area, but feel that Osprey have been rather cautious and unambitious in devoting just one volume to it. At the very least there was scope for a volume on such German aces and another on their Allied equivalents. Still, a very interesting read.

Best wishes
Nigel

That is one of the best things about Denis Winter's The First of the Few, the inclusion and appreciation of the men who flew n the two seaters.

As for the spelling definitely is one of the words I always struggle with. As I am seeing no red underlining as I type this must be the proper spelling  :o

Has anyone got hold of a copy of this yet? I've just ordered one from Amazon and they're still saying that it's not yet available.

Hi Squiffy

As I mentioned a few posts above I bought a copy at Telford back in early November. It all seems a bit bizarre. Sometime back around then I made a posting showing the bits and pieces I picked up at there and book cover is shown in part of one photo.

Best wishes

Thanks, Nigel. I've taken a look at Osprey's own website, which shows it under 'upcoming titles' for this month. It says that these books are available to buy this month and will be despatched on the publication date (the 15th).

I wonder if you bought some kind of preview copy that they sold by mistake?

Yes, Squiffy, possibly. I forget the name of the trader, but he had a large table covered with multiple copies of numerous Osprey titles, new and old.

Best wishes
