This is the standard boxing (no PE).

Fuselage is buttoned up and a start made on the painting.

I managed to use some out of date Mr Surfacer which didn't completely set, not a problem I've ever had before, and in removing it I messed up the fuselage ribs to rear of cockpit. I replaced with some evergreen strips which I sanded till I thought they were only just visible. Could probably do with some more sanding, but I'm going to stick with what I've now got.



hope to get rest of the basic paint on over the next couple of days

Yes, Chain Mail for cowl/engine and Mithril Silver for aluminium panels.

You're off to a great start, Ken.  This is a sweet little kit.  It would've been my next build if the OKGB hadn't come along.  I'll be watching this one closely.

Nice job, Ken. I'll have to try the Citadel line of paints. Any other colours in the range that you find useful?

Managed to get a bit more paint on. Custom mix for CDL using Vallejo Ivory, Pale Sand & Iraqi Sand. I've made to top sides paler (faded by sun?) and the undersides darker.





Tried using pastels post paint rather than pre shading for the first time, not as easy as I thought it would be :-\




(Sorry about background changes, trying to find a god way of shooting photos)

But once I put a light coat on top it's not looking too bad.

I've a bit of detail painting before I remove the masking.

Ken, did you use a fixative for the pastels? Im wondering how durable they're going to be with the further handling of the model. Your colours look spot on though!!

Hi Steve,

No, but I've sprayed a light coat of paint over them and I'm hoping it'll be OK. Time will tell.

That should work fine my friend. Normally I fix mine by spraying a light coat of flat but a light coat of the base color would work just as well.
