and again,

I took care of the wings form Jasta 5 Pfaltz as the final layer is to be silver I tried some preshading, gently at the beginning…

it does not look so good,  I have decided to improve ribs and ailerons visibility and stopped somewhere here, as do not have any further idea how it should look like at the end:
the ribs masking:

Krzysiek, you are making good progress on the Pfalz.  Your masking work and
shading is first-rate. Nicely done!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Great efforts, Krzysiek. I wish you, that they are not in vain. Anyhow, my experience tells me, that postshading is much more effective.

I'm really interested in seeing how the shading turns out, Krzysiek.  It's a technique I haven't mastered yet, but with two RFC planes under construction, I need to work out how to do it pretty quickly.

Good stuff.

Dal.

ok guys, here we have the reults
I have painted Jasta 5 wings Vallejo alu with little bit of grey and have some doubts about the outcome.
The fact is that, depending on the gaze angle with same light, the effect is quite different. IMHO the ribbing is too visible right now and should be more integrated into the overall picture of the wings ...  The color of the canvas sometimes breaks through the aluminum and that effect found really interesting.
To sum up all preshading work was really tedious and monotonous, the final result only slightly captures the workload done. Nevertheless It was worth a try

Hi,
Little update In case of Jasta 5 bird. Now we can be sure that it belongs to “Green Tails”
Preshading was done in that case as well and I am happy with the results. One can observe really subtle claret below green, not well visible of photos but it is for sure!!

Very nice painting, thin strips on the outskirts are wonderful.
