1/48 Fokker D.VIII flown by Udet
« on: February 28, 2014, 04:10:26 AM »
Some of you have seen this in the build thread of the now-defunct modeling forum at the Aerodrome.  It's the Dragon/DML D.VIII, which still is a great kit. I modified the axle to make the experimental undercarriage fuel tank.  Lozenge is pasted together from an Eduard D.VII, insignia from the kit.  I tried to simulate the flaking off black on the insignia and the rubbed off original E.V designations on the fuselage. Uppper wing streaking is a bit too intense; one of these days I'll overspray to tone it down.  Udet flew this after the war testing the fuel tank.

Drew, I must have missed this one on the Drome! You have done an Awesome job on a rare bird! As for the wing streaking, looks good to me !
