Hello from Wales
« on: January 06, 2014, 01:18:32 AM »
Just to introduce myself.  I'm an experienced hobby modeller who lives in South wales. My main interest is aircraft but I don't rule out building a model of anything that catches my interest, so I also have models of armour, ships, bikes and cars.  With the interest in the anniversary of WW1 building up, I intend to build one or two appropriate kits this year starting with the old Airfix Handley Page 0/400.  I am also an active member of the Unofficial Airfix Modellers Forum.

Looking forward to posting and interacting with you all.

Nice to have you here, Dazzled. I've never seen a build of the Airfix HP 0/400, so I'll  be watching with great interest. I'm looking forward to you posting your work.

Hello again Dazzled

Just in connection with your planned 0/400....

Maybe you've picked up from the Unofficial Airfix Modellers Forum you mention, that the 0/400 kit does have various faults. I've just been flicking back through some old copies of Windsock International. The May/June 2002 edition (Vol. 18, No. 3) contains a re-assessment of what it calls this 'elderly classic', noting faults, in particular with the wings and tail assembly. This may not be something you want to address, but if you do it may be worth trying to get hold of the relevant Winsock Datafile and/or the magazine I mention.

Best wishes
Nigel

Welcome aboard!
I also have the 0/400 in my stash and in my sights...I hope to do it with the wings folded, so if you go the same route I'll certainly be watching!
