Airco DH.2 (1/32, Wingnut Wings)
« on: December 29, 2013, 08:21:52 AM »
I have spent recent modelling evenings on WNW DH.2. The kit was waiting over one year in my stash, finally I got to it. I am planning to build the kit option D - Leslie Aizelwood's mount from 32 Sqn.

The interior sub-assemblies, where I have added rigging, control lines and the small piece of the fuel pipe at the end of the hand pump.

Put together...

The nacelle sides added:

and the seals sealed additionally with CA glue as the filler - especially the lower side needed this.

I have also started playing with Taurus Monosoupape

Pure pleasure and admiration to Łukasz's work on this kit!

Looks very good, PrzemoL.

I have this kit almost every day in my hand (inclusive the beautiful Taurus Rotary-engine for over a year on my shelf) and say to myself - finally begin it............ :-\

PrzemoL, do not forget to remove the piece of plastic waste on the lever (yellow arrow).

Brilliant start on the DH.2, Przemol.  Wonderful work on the cockpit.
Are the seat belts kit parts or after market? They look great. I will surely
enjoy following your build, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Have this in my stash, and although I suspect any build is a long way down the road ... I will never the less be following this particular build with some considerable interest.
A great start, all the cable work looks to be exceptionally neat. ... Well done.

At the risk of being redundant, Terrific interior work! Up to the standards we have come to expect from your bench. I will use your build as a TUTORIAL on what I may be able to scratch build and add to My Roden DH2 in my stash, or maybe just get a WNW kit.....

Looks extremely good so far! I have a lot of sentiment to DH2 cause it has been my first serious WW1 model.
I`m sure that it`s going to be a beauty!
Przemek what turnbuckles are you going to use on this one?
PS. I`m really excited about the Hobbit premiere soon!
Best regards
Filip

Brilliant work on the interior, Prez!  I've got the Eduard 1/48 DH2 that I've been putting off.  You've inspired me to move it up in the queue now that I'll have your build to use as a guide.
Cheers,
Bud

Great start Prze, and as with all your Builds detail and finishing of the highest qualities. The cockpit and particularly the Instruments and switches are outstanding. I just received this Kit as a Christmas gift, and will be watching your progress closely before starting it.
Cheers,
Lance

Absolutely outstanding work: I am really waiting to see how this progresses as I have a soft spot for pushers (albeit in another scale). This is a real work of art.

Many thanks, everybody. I am glad that my build may be an inspiration for so many of you.  I will only tell all of you who contemplate taking it to the desk - go for it, it is a pleasure build as all WNW kits are. And the puhers are especially appealing!

Bertl, thanks for the heads-up! I have indeed missed this detail!  :-[

Ernie, the seat belts are from the kit - airbrushed and with some wash added.

Filip, the buckles will be from Bob Booth's stuff.
And I have already seen The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug! Great piece of movie art, though I regret slightly, that Sir Jackson strayed quite far away from the original at some important points.
