Awesome job Doc!  Your NMF is among the best I have seen.  Truly outstanding!  Great subtle weathering too. 

What metal finish did you use, how did you apply it, what did you coat it with, and how did you achieve the weathering?

(That's what you get for posting such a beautifully finished machine from the "other" war . . . although some would say it was just a continuation after a 20-year ceasefire).   

This model is very well done!  Thanks for sharing (Darn! After seeing this one, I want to stray into my WWII stash as well!).

Oh, by the way, can you tell us more about the history of this particular aitcraft?  Looks like an Arado to me, or is it one of the Japanese floatplanes.  Is this civilian garb from the thirties?  Or post-war?  Thanks!  She's a real beaut!

it's an Arado 196...without it's Luftwaffe uniform?  Such a cool little beastie!

This was a Luftwaffe plane forced down by Swedish flak near Helsingborg. The swedes sold it to MI6 who used it in Norway for agent running. They sold it to ahrensburg ag in Sweden post war then it ended up shot to bits as a naval target.

The finish is alclad polished aluminium over gloss black. Then future, then a mix of duller and darker alclad shades to counter shade panels and dull aluminium on the fabric bits. Finally there is a panel line spray of the new alclad smoke, which is blue black . I then buff hard with a miracle polisher which takes the smoke off the highlights and leaves the rest. Very pleasing. Buffing adds some realistic dings scratches and wear too.

The floats are the same, then a really thin pale grey below waterline to dull it, then a pin wash of oils smeared off airflow wise. The floats look really good. I nearly added mr surfacer barnacles!

I have one that I'm going to build sitting on the HpH resin catapult, but I'm still looking for references to codes and surroundings of the catapult of any minor (or pirate) kriegsmarine vessel, but sources are scarce...

now I've seen yours, I want to just do it, to hell with the research!

There is something extraordinary in having a 196 without green splinter camouflage. The NMF is very attractive. Congratulations - and now back towards something with two wings. Or an Eindecker. Or something completely different...
