Decal Issue

Has anyone seen an issue when applying decals that result in an effect that resembles "silvering" over the surface of the dried decal yet does not appear to be silvering? There is no air trapped under the decal, they were applied to a highly glossy painted surface, blotted down to eliminate airbubbles and any trapped water. No set or sol was used, nor does applying a set solution fix the issue.

Dang hard to get a picture of the issue due to the "linen" effect on these lozenge, but I tried below. Really looks like silvering but it does not seem to be the same...

  Is the "silvering" patchy or over the entire area of the decal?
Also, what colour was the wing painted before the decal was applied?

its patchy and scattered. The under color was gloss white (these lozenge are transparent and must be put over white or off white)

I have already been accused of disparaging a vendor's product with my question though none was mentioned. Des - please delete my post when you get a chance as it was not my intention to slag off any vendor or decal manufacture - I am certain the issue is my own doing and was just seeking assistance.

Petrov - I don't have any problems with your question as you have a legitimate issue with what has happened with your decal application, you are not "slagging" the manufacturer as no manufacturers name was mentioned. I don't have an answer to your problems but maybe someone else will, this will help many other modelers who may come across the same issue. If you feel you need to contact the manufaturer please do so but don't mention any context of the communication on the forum, it is strictly between you and the manufacturer.

I hope someone can come up with an answer for you.

Could it be a reaction between the decal varnish and setting, solvent fluids if they were used. Some decal solutions can be a bit hot.

Hi Petrov,when soaking the decals,did you notice if the water had turned a milky colour at all?It may be adhesive from the decal sheet itself when it was soaked prior to application,and it has 'stained' the finish.Try a mild solution of dish washing liquid applied with a cotton bud rubbed gently over the affected area's,maybe in an area that will not be too noticable to test it out.Another possble solution is to apply gloss varnish to the area,let it dry,and see if that cures the problem,again in a small area that will not be too noticable.
