Bud - thanks for the decal info.. That's a shame - cos I only got them to use as a template - If they're the wrong size - kinda defeats their purpose!

I haven't got the Uschi ones yet so I can't compare, but I'm certainly impressed with the look of the HGW -  looks very scale to my eye - Vladimir's also putting in a sample of the Old Propeller Plywood in with my order to try. So it'll be interesting to have 3 options to look at.. Although my intention is to use the Uschi ones - I'll happily look at each on their own merit..

Morning all,

Finally made a start.. I always have a go at the wood areas first - for the drying time required, then I can put that to one side and have a bash at the engine.

I've masked the recesses here - just to stop them clogging up with paint as I seem to remember the fit tolerance here is fairly critical:






How do other people fill those pesky sink holes - there are loads on the internal structure of this kit! I normally superglue, then sand, but these are tricky to get at and I was worried about making more of a mess by sanding/scraping.. So I tried filling the holes with a few layers of Klear - it seems to have worked - they've almost disappeared (and certainly won't be visible once the fuse is closed up)

Looking good Guy, nice start for sure. Regarding the ejection marks I normally use a standard modelling filler and an assortment of graded flexible sponge type sanders that ive bought for fitting in all sorts of nooks and crannies, even the most awkward and tightest of areas can normally be covered with a little patience.

As to you question about filling those pesky sink holes.I usually. Fill them with thin plastic
Disc then coat the super glue and sand them out. You can fill then with choice of liquid putty.

Thanks for the advice guys.. I think I need to get some flexible/sponge sanders - now all I can see in the photos is those blooming sink holes!  although when closed up - I genuinely can't see them..


Here're the oils - bit darker than I intended but not too bad. The oval panel (backstop for the seat) I tried with the Uschi decals - wow! Boy, I can't wait to try this on the fuselage! It was a good lesson, because I need to do the base coat in a much lighter colour - but the potential is beyond my expectations.. They're almost see through, so the base colour is definitely key here..

No, I didn't want to know that! 

I remember that from your build now you've said it.. Was it linen or lozenge? The instructions say light wood!
