Revell Nieuport 28, 1:72
« on: July 26, 2013, 01:32:36 AM »
Well, I can finally report this little project complete!

It's been a fun one, and I hope I've managed to correct most of the kit's faults:
The wheels, prop and guns are all Aeroclub items, the cowling was sanded to the correct profile, the front opening widened, and cooling/intake slots added. The undercarriage legs were shortened slightly, I scratched the axle/spreader bar and completely removed the large "oil drum" under the nose that Revell intend us to use to mount the landing gear legs on. The windshield surround is thinned down, the cockpit padding drastically reduced and the oil filler cover added just behind the cowling. I also added the venturi and carb intake on the right side of the nose.

I'm pleased with the result, hope you like her!

Ian

Absolutely brilliant, Ian.  You've done a remarkable job spiffing up a rather crude kit.  She's a beauty.
Cheers,
Bud

I know this kit from old... and I did not recognise it when I first looked. You have done a remarkable restoration there and turned a somewhat basic kit into a first rate model. I especially like the markings - so much brighter than the usual allied drab finishes. Great work.

I really admire you 1/72 guys ;)
The detail you get in that scale is noteworthy.

You pulled off a remarkable transformation, your finished model is light years ahead of the original kit. All the work you did was well worth the effort and you have presented us with a beautiful model, congratulations Ian.

Well done Ian, hard to believe this little beauty is 1:72 Scale! Although not the most popular nor successful of the Nieuport Line the "28" is the prettiest to my eye, and you've certainly done her justice with this very fine model.
Lovely work!
Cheers,
Lance

Very nice. Surprising no one has produced a new 1/72 kit of Nieuport 28.

A job well done, Ian!  What a gorgeous little Nieuport.
You have made a jewel from a questionable kit.
Your abilities are really evident in this model.

Cheers,
Ernie :)
