I'm not overly fond of 'strip down' kits, but I thought a stripped down 'lattice tail' might make an interesting display.

I think I'll give these a try. I've gotten good results from the Model Master clear lacquers, but their strong and permeating odor gets old fast.

I hope no one will mind my showing off the '60s plane kit which arrived this morning...
...if it's the new Encore Blue Max Pfalz!   :)

Just couldn't resist it. My brother loves the film and when I've made it up this will be winging its way to him at some suitable festive point in the future.
I'm very impressed with this package, which even allows for it to be built authentic to the original novel, which interestingly had it as a sort of III/IIIa hybrid. But I can't imagine anyone will be building it as anything other than the movie version. Not when they've gone to the trouble of providing parts for the fake engine and all that awful 7-colour lozenge. The instructions and history are excellent.

And of course the figures. To be honest they don't really much resemble George Peppard or Ursula Andress, though some might say that with the way she's been sculpted, no one will be looking at her face ;)  Definitely not suitably attired for a visit to a muddy aerodrome. But their poses are great and they'll add a lot of atmosphere to the scene. For me, the only big omission is a glowering James Mason!

I'm just about at the point where I can restart my flugzeug werke. In preparation:

A tube cutting guide from yoda Bertl.

Incredible as you would expect. What I didn't expect was the no-slip material at the back. I should know better. Thanks, Bertl!

Next, the result of the only thing I've ever won:

I kind of went overboard, but the choice is very difficult when it comes to Pheon. The quality is exactly as rumored. Can't wait to try them.

Finally,

Got a good second hand deal on this. I'm looking forward to it. Should be a fun one.

What a windfall!

Bought with some of my birthday money at the weekend -

This is Revell's latest re-issue of their 1/28 scale Sopwith Camel.   This will now complete my set of 1/28 Revell WW1 range and I also really like the look of the colour/marking scheme on this one.

Regards

Dave

Happy Birthday, Dave!  I'm looking forward to watching you build this one.  She's go beautifully with your Dr.I.

Cheers,
Bud

Yes, happy birthday Dave. A much better present than say a set of spanners (wrenches).

Best wishes

These arrived yesterday from Drill Bits Unlimited, 50 x 0.4mm tungsten carbide bits beautifully packaged and only five days delivery time since ordering, excellent service from America to Australia and one of the few companies who don't rip customers off with excessive postage charges.

Try this link Justin  http://drillbitsunlimited.com/Create-Your-Custom-Drill-Set-P2817263.aspx

They run specials on a regular basis so it is well worth checking the website at least once a week, the 50 bits I just purchased were only 0.49cents each.
