I once had a stash of over 1,000. I actually had a garage stacked floor to ceiling on 3 walls plus some in the crawl space below the stairs and some in a small attic. Over the last 19 years I have sold or traded most. My most recent was trading all but a few in progress WW1 & WW2 1/48th scale for a few WW1 1/32nd kits.... there might have been a Messerssomething involved also  :-\Now at most 100 to 150RAGIII

I took a look the other day and found I have about 60 to do.
Now at my rate of speed building I figure I will have to live
to about 112 to get them all built!...Now that is a great
incentive for a long life. ;)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

SWMBO
Keith (and Bob),

I just logged on after almost a week in Nijmegen, where I met a lot of canadian, british, french, danish and swedish armed forces, whom I might have asked (although only the first groups might have known the answer), but could you enlighten me about the SWMBO abbreviation. I guess it must be your wife.....

regards,
Ivo

Ivo,
Being as I, (like most I suspect!) live with one I'll steal a spot and answer your question..............an acronym for "She who must be obeyed". Fitting, if you think about it.
Cheers,
Lance ::)

Would the four people with stashes >500 please submit photos of what that pile 'o plastic looks like? Might need a fish-eye lens, though.

I'm just curious to see what a styrene retirement investment plan looks like...

I too would like to see a photo of 500+ kits, even better a photo of the over 1000 kits indicated by two members, dig out the wide angle lens.

I have no idea what to do with a thousand kits...except maybe take
off all my clothes and roll in them.  Geez, it would give me headaches
just trying to decide what one next! ;D

well the last time i counted it was 225ish but it looks like about twice that now but its hard to estimate as i have 3 large storage shelf units and a closet full. my guess(and this poll may make me bother to count) would be realistically btw 350 to 450ish, 3/4s of which are ww1 aircraft.  the president of my local ipms club claims to have 2 to 3 thousand 1/72 kits of all genres but has been collecting since the 50s.

I wish I had photographed my 1,000 plus kit stash at the height of my collection. Let me put it this way: I Once had circa 1996,
Every available 1/72nd kit of Viet Nam war Aircraft
Every WW1 kit Available in Injection Molded kits of WW1 Aircraft, Including Cottage industry such as Pegasus, Merlin, and Meikraft.
Many 1/72nd WW1 Vacs
All of the Aircraft flown by JG2(WW2) and JG71 in 1/72nd
All of the Aircraft avaikable Flown by 19,43, and 56 Sq. RAF from the 30s to Tornados in 1/72nd
All of the Injection Molded Aircraft Flown by the 94th and 27th Aero Squadron in 1/72nd, WW2 through the F15
Please Note The WW1 Squadrons are included in the first list such as JG1 Albies, Tripes,DVIIs and DVIIIs, The 19,43 56 Sq. WW1 is included in the First List, and so forth.
In addition I was almost completely Transferred to 1/48th so I had all of the injection Molded WW1 Aircraft available at the time including Aurora/K&B, Lindberg, Eduard, Classic Vacs, Sierra vac, Wings 48, Koster, etc.
All of the Aircraft flown by JG2,19,43,56, the 27th and 94th , Storks, Lafayette, etc, from WW2 through the Latest Jets.
Many WW1 and WW2 Vacs
I was also into Pacific Theatre WW2 Stuff so I had all of the Available USAF, USN, And Japanese Aircraft Available at the time. (Injection)
I Loved the Phantom so had quite a few of them in 1/48th.
Battle of Britain Aircraft in 1/48th and 1/72nd, Bombers Mostly 1/72nd
and then there were the 1/32nd kits: Classic hasegawa, revelle, etc, about All Produced.
1/24th, BOB and a couple of Oddballs including the Black Knight Nieuport 17
Then there was the Armor  :o

Care to take a stab at the value of that collection, Rick? Or is that too painful?

Your interests sound similar to mine, Rick. ;). I wish there were some things I didn't find interesting-- it would be much cheaper that way! ;D

I went through the same thing with signed av art. I have BoB, Flying Tigers, Some Japanese, German, American, Dambusters, and even have a couple still under my bed waiting to be framed. I just need a bit of wall space now.

I forgot that compulsion. I only have five but they include a signed James Dietz and two signed by our fellow member, Russell Smith. Treasures to me; Russel's "Last Dance of the Hussar" depicting Voss's last air battle is magnificent.
