Ian,
WOW, modelling at it's best! Beautiful to behold, and in a scale I can't imagine working in. Nice that she was recognised as well.
Cheers,
Lance

In my opinion this is the last stage of modeling.

You master it for sure! If making a scratch it's dificult, being a 1/72 scale it's just amazing.

It's a case for me to say that if it's hard to build you will get it done in no time... if it's an impossible build, you'll just take a little bit longer!

Thx for sharing this great build... who knows... maybe one day i can make some scratch building myself!

Cheers

An incredible build Ian, and in such a small scale, congratulations on producing a spectacular model.

Thanks so much everyone!
I hadn't planned on scratchbuilding it, as I said, it just became necessary due to such a poor kit. I think my Muromets will be just as much, if not more, of a challenge - the same poor quality kit to start with, but four engines needing resin casting and much bigger wings and tail surfaces to deal with. My trial and error process on the wing batons may help a lot though!
A few things I would do differently: the wing batons, definitely - I need to find something that works here.... I would also use a smaller size square section rod for the fuselage, and maybe a slightly differant approach to the fuselage rigging to make sure it all stays taught, but other than that I'm very pleased with my little creation!
My view is that I'm not going to get better if I stay within my comfort zone.....I have to try new things, and love figuring out ways to get around what at first seem impossible problems - all part of the fun of modelling, in my opinion!

Ian, I just came across your magnificent Bleriot. It would
be stunning in a large scale, but amazing in 1/72.  Thanks
so much for sharing your ideas and talents with us.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

An incredible build. Starting from a kit and finding that it would be easier to throw the kit away and build from scratch takes some skill and not a little courage. Very many congratulations on an outstanding success - and a well deserved award.
