Captured Sopwith Triplane ( Roden KIT)
« on: May 17, 2013, 04:03:33 AM »
Well I started this build on the LSP site and really  been busy at work . Too many project and no time ! I am trying to get the PC 10 or PC12 correct or at least close to what the color should  be . Here are the two colors sprayed on the test fuselage . In sunlight and shade .

I would like feed back ,Yes or no , I`m using water based paint .

                                                                      Thanks ,

                                                                                       Willi

  Willi,
As a matter of personal taste I'd go with the Brown Bread PC10. Maybe it's just me but I get tired of drab greenish RFC/RNAS aircraft. The best of luck with this project my friend.

I personally prefer the greener shades of PC10 rather than the browner PC12, but that's just personal taste.

Thanks for your response , I would like to know if the Brown color looks correct. if not does it have to go darker or lighter .
I have been using Des build log for my Sopwith Tripe . so I wont go into too much detail on what I have done so Far. the main change is that I replaced to fuselage that is 6mm too short with the resin one from Brian Fawcett Models and Patterns . Here`s a few photo`s of what I have done so far.

That`s all for now ,

Nice!  The instrument panel is brilliant, as is the rest of the cockpit.  Good decision, going with Brian's fuselage, Willi.  It'll make a world of difference in the way she sits.
Cheers,
Bud

Willi, It is amazing how little of a difference there is between WNW and Roden when a modeler of your caliber takes on a kit! As Bud said, beautiful work on the interior and panel!

Willi, that's excellent work on the interior.  Sorry, I can't help with PC10/PC12, as I'm still learning this stuff myself.  But have a look at Rick's build (http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=1777.45)- he's got a nice looking PC12 that he mixed using Humbrol paints.

Fine work on the interior, indeed. Looking forward to see it unveil.
As for PC10 I would opt for brown side. However, your shades look to little chocolate-ish. Especially the shadow-shot reveals a too pale shade. I will be soon passing your steps with adjusting brown PC10 to the Tripe model so I am very interested in your results!

Hello Willi:

I agree with Prez, maybe add a little red and a little green to it, to take the "chocolaty flavor" out of it.  Your interior is marevelous.  Looking forward to seeing you progress.

Best

Thank you for all the comments,

I closed up the cockpit and gave the top of the cockpit a natural wood finish . Here`s the PC10 I came up with ? What do you think ? Too dark or should it be a little lighter.

I did some more work on the wing struts .

Here`s the tail skid and rudder

Here`s what I have done on the bottom of the wings using some of the tips from this forum .

Next I am working on the landing gear struts and wheels .

     More to come soon.

                                                  Thanks ,

Thanks Steve ,

I trying my best with this build . just takes more work to make it look like the WNW`s kit.
I`m glad you like the wood work ,that`s my favorate part of building WW1 aircraft.

                                                                                                                        Thanks Willi

Willi,
Looks outstanding! Your PC 10 looks great. You are indeed making this kit look as good as a WNW kit.
