My first one...

this is my first go at a ww1 plane and the first time i have built a model for about 30 odd years since i was a kid.

i had a few ups and downs along the way but had a great time building this kit, and got a real sense of achievment seing it (amazingly) finished

what struck me most was how small these planes are especially for some one with big clumsy fingers like me 

I know i got carried away with the weathering but i was just keen to try out some painting effects i picked up from the internet.

while it's no where near the quality of the rest of the work on here i'm just pleased i managed to complete it 

p.s. the kit is eduard 1/48 nieuport ni-11

Michael it looks really great! I wish my first looked as good as yours... I like the weathering especially on the cowl. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of! The only thing I would change is the windscreen, Eduard`s instructions are wrong it should be aluminum. I hope it is not the only one I`m going to see on this forum. GREAT JOB!!!

Absolutely brilliant, Michael.  Amazing first effort.  When I look at my first model after a 20 hiatus and then look at yours, it looks like mine was built at one of those "make and take" tables they have set up for the kids at model shows.  You should be very proud of this one.  The weathering is perfect.  Those Le Rhones threw out a lot of oil and a brand new plane, after a couple flights, would be drenched in it.  Congratulations.

I am lost for words Michael, for your first WW1 model this is incredible, the overall finish on your model is superb and your weather technique is second to none, one word that comes to mind is - Brilliant.

A very fine piece of modelling. And the first WW1 subject? We all envy you!
And the weathering - it is by no means exagerrated. The rotary engines were filthy. The cowling and the castor oil stains on the fuselage are very realistic.
