Hi, my name is Bob and I'm a model-holic.  Currently I'm heavily involved in historic ship modeling (wood kits and scratch from plans), but want to try my hand at WW1 aircraft.  Love the bi-planes of that era.  I've built just about everything in my 65 years on this planet; planes, cars, model railroads, ships, structures, etc.  looking for a good starter kit in 1:48 or 1:32 scale.  I like detailing over and above the OOB model.  Any suggestions?  I've heard that Roden, WnW and Academy all make a good kit (read that on this site before I joined).  The last kit I build was a Revell B-17G kit for my Dad before he passed away last year.  He was a top turret gunner in WWII stationed in Moracco.  I sprayed it in Army AirCorps green and detailed the inside.  Sadly it was 'shot down' by a vacuum cleaner.

   Hi Bob, I'm fairly new here myself. Definitely go with a WNW kit. I'm on my second one and I've never built nicer kits! But which ever you build, I'll be looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks, Steve, the Snipe was in the running, but it came down to the Albatros D.Va.  Mainly because there is a green and blue paint scheme that I liked.  Nothing like picking a race horse at the track because you like the horse's color, right?

Welcome to our Forum Bob. As I was reading the replies I was intending to recommend the WNW Pup as a nice basic start or their DV/DVa. Great choice on your part, so many attractive schemes to choose from. Take a look at the Build Logs here, tremendous amount of good info and techniques. Looking forward to your contributions.
