AK Lilac and Mauve
« on: July 21, 2026, 05:56:46 PM »
As my half empty bottle of Polyscale mauve went missing, I was able to get hold of the AK German colors set.  They have both lilac and mauve which are markedly darker than my old paint. I know some do that scale lightening, but I feel these colors are too dark for 32nd scale, let alone 72...though I don't want lightened camou colors with unlightened decals...but that's just me.
Has anyone used these AK colors?

Cheers,
Jim

Which generation? 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen? The 3rd gen colours are more intense and heavily pigmented than the 2nd gen ones. The 3rd gen ones have the white plastic caps with a "+" shape on the top.

I haven't used these particular colours yet but as with all colours I tend to mix and adapt based on what I think looks right rather than assume the colours are "correct" out of the bottle. After all, there were no standards and we don't really know for sure what the colours looked like.

They must be the latest as they have the white caps.  The Polyscale was close to DSA's (RIP) description as a darkish pink tinged with blue.  Far from an expert, but the provenance of some pieces of german a/c linen on which some paints were based are suspect; but hey, what do I know?
Where's my AK white?
