I?m so glad to have this project behind me. I put so much effort into it with the original build that I didn?t have the heart to scrap it. I don?t like to bash on model manufacturers but this kit is really bad OOB. I can?t stress enough to overlook the Maquette kit and spend the extra money on an ICM Ilya Muromets if you really want to build one.
In the end, I wasn?t able to get very much rearward stagger on the upper wing. It more or less is just equal with the lower wing.
There are so many variations in the development of the Muromets that it is difficult to determine which is correct. The plane I chose to represent is no. 150 flown by Lt. Bashko during a raid on an enemy rail yard / ammunition dump. Hence the two extra fuel tanks under the upper wing.
The Muromets was an incredible aircraft for the time in 1914. It was the first multi-engine bomber , had a higher ceiling, and was very resilient to enemy fighters. Only one was reported lost due to enemy fighter aircraft.
