Wingnut Wings Pfalz DXII Pheon Decals
« on: March 03, 2013, 05:51:16 AM »
Okay folks:

Some better pictures of my WNW Pfalz DXII with the Pheon Markings.  Unit and pilot unknown.  The kit gets very little forum time and it has turned out to be one of my favorite builds.  An easy build, great fit, and a great looking model.  I first saw the Pfalz DXII when I was in Australia in 1977 at the AWM.  I thought it was Fokker DVII but quickly realized I was wrong due to the tail and the two bay wing configuration.  The Pheon Decals fit perfectly and I think add a lot of color to the model.  I used the kit decals for everything else.  I went over the lozenge with very thinned Testors MM Desert Sand to give it a weathered look and take out some of the brightness.  I used for the first time White EZ line instead of the usual black.  I kind of like it.  Enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by.

Best

Mark

Hello, Mark -

Good to see again in better light so to speak!

A really great job.  I ran into a few problems with my one (built last year) and is no where near as good as yours.

Regards

Dave

Beautiful work Mark!  She's a great-looking D.XII. ;D  Wonderful aint scheme, and the lozenge looks really good with the muting you employed.  Thanks for highlighting this kit for us.  Makes me look forward to building it! ;)  Well done.

Can't resist adding my appreciation as well, Mark! It's so nice to see this subject modelled and so beautifully. Really pleased that the decals fitted OK; it is always the thing which worries me most about the design process and no matter how many trial runs I do, there is always that niggling doubt in the back of my mind!
