All,
Here is my latest paper model all ready for inspection.

I got the prop made which looks great for paper, the last of the landing gear rigging, a bit of weathering and some dirtying up.  Calling it complete.  I really like how it turned out.  It's, for some reason, a model I've always wanted and a plane I really like so I'm glad to have it in the collection.  The last one I built was a P-nut scale flying model from Lees Hobbies if anyone remembers those models!  I'm glad this one will be on the ground and not up in a tree!

Thanks for looking...Dan

That looks fantastic! It's turned out really well, the overall finish is superb and it's really hard to tell it is a paper model. Can you clarify - is the prop made from paper? If so, it's really convincing.

Gorgeous model. This is exactly how I like paper models - not easy to say they are really paper-made. Fantastic shading on the linen adds to it.

Thanks, Gents...Yes Nigel, it's paper.  Usually, it's just a cylinder with two blades attached and I tend to add a little putty to try and make the central part look helical.  This design was actually twisting two strips of paper to make a helix added around a eye-shaped hub.  Worked out very well indeed!  I'm pleased.

It is fun to make these NOT look like paper.  Of course, WWI types really lend themselves well to that!

Fabulous Dan  8)

One of my favourite aircraft of the period and you've made a great job of it. I remember the old Lees Hobbies kits; I'm assuming yours wasn't one of their lovely Peanut scale ones? In any case great effort to get one flying well enough to get stuck in a tree.

Having scratch built a Hansa Brandenburg CC in plastic, I can only say that I am in awe of what you have achieved with paper. That is truly amazing and had you not told me that it was paper, I would have thought that it was made from other materials. The struts and propellor are so realistic! Brilliant.

Fantastic job for card model with such a large scale. The reinforcement must have been really challenging, especially all those "spider" struts. I used to struggle a lot with this reinforce problem when building larger-scale card models and I know it's truly remarkable how well you've done.

Truly outstanding!
Did a Classic Plane vacform many years ago but still remember the trouble with designing and attaching the spider struts.
