After building the last one and viewing Ricks build on Airfixs Hellcat , just had to build Airfix's P-51 D in 48 scale . This is my second go at this kit . When it was released just had to build one and love every part of it . It is a nice kit and fit over all is really good with a few areas needing a touch of putty such as the gun inserts on the leading edge . I did putty the wings on this one .

This bird is built out of the box with a replacement seat coming form Ultracast . Paints used , Tamiya acrylic , lacquer and Valljeo metal coat and Alclad polished alum and duralum . Decals are form super scale international which are designed for the Tamiya kit . Touch ups on the checkers was needed , not perfect but I think it tuned out rather well .

Looks very nice Alexis! The Airfix kit is a nice one, but I had some mixed experiences when I built my two ponies. Did have some fit issues around the leading edge wing roots and nose area, yours came up a treat.

I'd got no idea when I saw the title of the thread (Not being especially familiar with my P51 names). Saw who's thread it was and thought I'd take a gander and am so glad I did - a lovely silver bird was laying in wait  Great job.

Hi Brad ,

Yes , saw your two ponies and they turned out fantastic . I have the markings for Contrary Mary , which marker are the decals and how did the checker decals fit ? The first one I built yes there was fit issues with the right leading edge of the wing root and the bottom part of the chin . This time around I thinned down the right side top of the wheel well and scape along inner edges for the best fit I could get . I still needed just a dap for a small gap . Made this go around much smoother , next will will even better !

Sorry about the confusion Paul on the title , was just trying to be different , but it did trick you into peeking and glad that you did . If I recall the last one you said more metal so I do hope it fit's the bill 

There is a WW 1 subject on the bench right now . Eduards Roland C.II out of the box ...more to come on this build .

Yes , the kit does seem to have left a sour note with others when it came out and I believe all kits are buildable , it's the skills of the modeller which makes the difference on achieving success Besides all kit's have their pros and cons and fit issues here and there
