Der Kampfflieger Gotha G-IV in 1/72nd Paper Card Model
« on: March 01, 2026, 02:55:07 PM »
Ladies and Gents,

Here is a neat little model of one of my favorite machines.  Check out the Paper Card area for a full build.

Put on final details this morning.  I got the mud/rock guards done.  They are paper for the main flat piece and thin stretched sprue for the connections.  I also added the Commander's gun up front but ran out of room for his bomb site.  I guess he'll just be joy riding above the Thames.

All in all a wonderful experience.  The basic kit makes into an attractive model and with some imagination and alternative bits and pieces, one could really make this into a show stopper.

Thanks for looking, one and all....Dan ;D

Great job all round, the end result is fantastic. That gun tunnel looks tricky to do in paper, you've made very neat work of it.

Another beautiful job Dan, and of such a neat subject. Bravo! As always I'm grateful to you for sharing your progress - you and I have discussed how much mystique this medium offers for me* and your builds help demystify paper and card kits. Lovely work all round!

*the Avro kit survived our house move and is sitting waiting for me to actually get into it!

Thanks, you guys!  I'm currently starting a 1/33rd Hansa Brandenburg D.1 Star Strutter!  That'll be fun and much cheaper than the large scale kit's I've seen of that machine (Though beautiful looking molds!).  Ahh...if only WNW had shuttered AFTER their Star Strutter teaser pics!  ;D

More soon and thanks for your support of paper.

Made a great job of this one Dan  8)

I'd looked at the photo of the scheme in the Windsock book and wondered what it might look like and you've pointed the way for painting if I ever get the nerve to have a go at one of these

"one could really make this into a show stopper." You already have! That is a superb model and I for one would never have guessed that it was card unless I saw the name of the modeller!

That is a difficult enough aircraft to model in plastic but in card it is little short of genius. Many congratulations Dan.

Stephen.

Thanks Graham and Stephen!  It was fun to build and turned out better than I expected.  I can't seem to get enough of these paper models.
More soon and thanks for looking...Dan
