I'm sure many of you have these passive searches as I do. Something we want but not enough to put any real effort or dollars into.
Over the past couple of years, I've been patiently waiting and looking for certain kits I would love to have. It is how my Hippo Gotha G.V came to me. Every once in while poking around the www.
I also found a new, still factory sealed Blue Max Vickers Gunbus. None of these did I pay stupid money for.
In the stash I have these Revell kits, only the Spitfire and the Messaschnitzel are built.

Passive searching over the years finally found "Lucky Pierre". Very rare. I paid the princely sum of $14.50 for him. I got some bonus dinosaur parts in there as well.

As you can see, for that price it's not new in box. In fact I can safely say it is the roughest used kit I have ever found. I can imagine a little kid and his dad sitting at the kitchen table with hairy sticks and blobs of glue and paint having a blast. It will be a challenge to clean up and rebuild.

Pretty nasty....However, sitting in a bath of Easy-Off oven cleaner for a couple of days did wonders.

Piece by piece I went through and got rid of the tons of old tube glue and paint then reassembled the bits.
I was chuffed with how well a coat of primer hid a multitude of sins.

I'm sure I can finish up with the priming today and then I can start painting.
