FROG Ta-152, 1/72 scale......
« on: November 27, 2025, 02:26:09 AM »
Forgive me if I've posted this already, I could not find that I had.
I have a lot of Luftwaffe builds, I was a Luftnatic.

The FROG kit has some issues that were easily solved by some bits donated from the Testors 190D. The cowling, spinner, landing gear and cockpit.

I had been using pencil for panel lines but wanted to test out using a fine ink marker pen. All surface detail was sanded away and replaced with pen lines.
I wanted to recreate Willi Reschke's "white 1".

I thought the pen worked great and is now my go-to for panel lines.

In my haste to photograph I forgot the antennae but it is now on.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

I well remember this kit when it was first issued - a very interesting variant on the FW190. I too was a Luftfanatic in an earlier incarnation (although i was still also a WW1 fanatic too!) but I could never seem to get the camouflage to look right. You have managed to dos o and with the improvements at the front end and cockpit you have made a really good model.

Stephen.

Gorgeous work, Allan! Adding the Testors kit bits really elevates the Frog.

Wow, a Frog kit! Looks pretty darned good, well done. Could you please explain your pen panel line technique. When you say you "sanded off the surface detail" does this mean you drew the panel lines on smooth painted plastic? If so, how...... The result looks very good.

Outstanding results from that  Old kit! The Parts from Testors , not a new kit either, really enhanced the kit. Lovely work on the painting and weathering! I have the DML 1/72nd scale Ta 152-H in the queue and I hope it looks as good as yours when finished!

Thanks all,
Give me a couple of days, out there on the www somewhere is a tutorial I did for the panel lines but I can't seem to find it quickly but here is some more until I find what I'm looking for.

This is "a" tutorial but not "the" one I was looking for.

Off topic but still kinda on as it's your first link: well done on the FROG Ventura! I'm battling with the Academy version (2010 Minicraft boxing) and cursing how they managed to make the model more accurate than the original in some ways but less accurate (and worse-fitting) in others. As a Ventura fan it's very frustrating these are the only kits available in 1/72. I'd still like to do a FROG/spawn for the novelty (Christmas is coming!), but seeing your build is a very informative and entertaining taster.

I was born after FROG was on the scene so it's been great fun to find a handful of their kits and get to work with varying degrees of relaxation - the decals have been the biggest issue for me lately. It's great to see what skilled builders can accomplish with these relatively cheap canvasses.
