Hasegawa 1/72nd scale Fw190D-9 ( Hans Dortenmann)
« on: November 12, 2025, 12:55:35 AM »
Just finished this one. MRP Acrylic Lacquers. Built OOB as always. I used actual chipping fluid, vs Hairspray, for the first time. Also tried out Aluminum Weathering pencil from AK. I am pleased with the results. By the way I recently learned that the Antenna Wire on the D-9 did not retract and stay tight like the earlier Fw190 variants!

Lovely work! I too am a fan of coloured pencils for chipping, they are nice and controllable. You did  great with them on this one.

Thanks Nigel. I used the chipping fluid for the large chips and the pencil on the forward smaller scratches. Also some on the fuselage sides were pencil.

That's a real beauty Rick, lovely work! It's neat to see folks experiment with new tools or techniques, too. Weathering is still a blind spot for me but I really enjoy such realistic (to my eye) work like this.

Rick, all of your WWII birds are really stunning. I'd better bookmark this page for the weathering pencils!

Thanks for the comment. The weathering pencils are available in sets, i.e., Luftwaffe, Metal finishes, and also as individual colors.

As usual Rick, you have come out tops with another superb Luftwaffe model. The weathering is first class.

Nice work. The D9 is my favorite.

It is a fine looking Aircraft with lots of paint and markings options. I like it also. I just picked up the IBG kit so have another to do!
