I feel shame! A house remodeling project has replaced painting models to painting interior doors and baseboard trim. I?ve stayed active on visiting this site, probably daily, but have not participated as of late which I don?t really have any good excuse for. The good news (besides finishing this house project a couple of days ago) is that my build area has been cleaned (and painted), new supplies have been acquired and I made the decision to purchase a new spray booth so no more painting out in the garage. I?ve also got a project well underway.
There have been so many excellent builds that I?ve neglected commenting on but I picked this thread to ?jump back in? because like Paul, I also favor the 1/72 scale and as my last finished project (years ago!) was a Toko/EE Sopwith Snipe. I?m anxious to see his solution to shortening the Snipe fuselage (which I have no doubt he will make happen). I hate to say it as I used the plan from the data file when I built the Snipe but I somehow completely missed the over-long fuselage. It is quite noticeable on the completed model.
Anyway, the D.VII looks great so far, I?m surprised that the white decals for the stripes have covered so well. And I?m in awe of the brass struts you?ve created for it, they look great.
Following this dual project with much interest.
Take care
Scott
Hiya Scott nice to hear from you again

I know exactly what you mean about household stuff getting in the way of modelling

I've been working on and off sorting out the bathroom since the summer and one job slides into another in the way that it does

a slight weep from a sink plug needed sorting out so a new plug unit was sourced and fitted. Because the since was attached to the wall and couldn't be easily removed this was done in situ and also revealed a real 'bodge it' job on the waste pipe that then needed replacing (The cast iron bath, under which the waste pipe runs, couldn't be removed so a bit of contortionism was required and then when it was all done the bloomin place looks exactly the same!.
Repainting was a whole other story, but needless to say . . .
Anyway back to the modelling. Snapped off the DVII tailskid at some point so made up a new one from filed brass yesterday evening. Decided to be lazy and use the kit undercarriage legs (sanded down so they are a bit thinner) which I'll fit later and then it's onto the top wing. For the tripod cabane struts I've made the longest ones from brass and hopefully will fit the two shorter ones using superglue rather than solder once the wing is in place and they can be cut and sanded to the exact fit - fingers crossed
