Primer for metel parts......

I primed the metal parts (pewter) on my BlueMax SPAD with my go-to for years, Tamiya fine white.
During construction I noticed when a part pulled off with super glue it came with the paint and primer.
I typically do not wash parts. I thought the lacquer based primer would stick to anything. Am I better off with the Vallejo acrylic primer or maybe something else?

Hi Allan
I've had the same issue with Tamiya (which is an excellent primer generally) On brass it doesn't seem to key properly despite degreasing with Isopropanol first so for the last year or so I've used PMA etch primer which works great. Comes in a spraycan, sold on Amazon. Only drawback is that it's quite nasty stuff I believe so facemask and spraying outside is order of the day. I usually make up a batch of metal bits and spray them all at the same time. Looks like Tamiya light grey when dry and takes acrylic well without any further treatments

Just came arcoss this thread ,
I use future floor polish to prime my metal parts before adding paint or you can mix in a few drops in with the paint .

Great idea, I had come across that before but forgot about it.

For a similar product to the discontinued Future Floor Polish in Europe, you can use Alclad Aqua Gloss, Humbrol Gloss Clear, or other water-based acrylic gloss varnishes designed for scale modeling.
