This is my second build of the Eastern Express Hansa Brandenburg D1. Eastern express kits are always pretty good, and interesting subjects, but increasingly hard to find.
For this version I modified the kit tail fin to the shape of the earlier models as used by Linke-Crawford. I also added additional struts and wires in the centre section to match various photos of real planes (but they seem to differ in their arrangement of cabane struts so I went for the most interesting as the photo of 28.15 wasn't clear). Went together well apart from some fiddling and patience with the star struts. I tried to creat the effect of ribs using a white paint pen on the top of the wing and a brown paint pen on the bottom then spraying over with cdl colour (AK paints). Frank Linke-Crawford doesn't sound like an Austro-Hungarian fighter aces name because his mother was British (Lucy Crawford)! He scored 4 victories on this aircraft at the beginning of his career and was officialy credited with 27 (4th highest scoring Austro-Hungarian) before he was shot down and killed (in a Berg D1).
Hope you like it.
