Excellent work on the pit Matt and I like that idea on skinning with sheet shock to cover up seems . Did you use 0.05 sheet for this ?

I somehow missed the start of this, great job. The sheet plastic rather than putty is clever, thanks.
Thanks,

Apologies for the lack of progress updates. Thanks for the comments. The card is actually.005 sheet, so it's almost like paper. I've found you have to avoid hot glues like Tamiya liquid cement as this basically melts it and you end up seeing the seam again.

I'm not sure how to load Flickr images for UK readers - so I'll use Imgur and try and add links to Flickr. Forgive me if they don't work - I'm sure someone can explain it to me!

This is a bit of a speed dial to get to where I am now. First up the markings were added.

I'm terrible at masking so there was a fair bit of touching up but got there.

I fussed about with the undercarriage. The Eduard kit hasn't got the aerofoils on the bottom part of the structure (the photo is actually a cropped one from Eduard - I'm sure they won't mind!) while the ones for the vertical uprights made them look like billowing bloomers.  The final result was ok -perhaps too wide but I ran out of patience. I used trusty .005 sheet again - this time I did use hot Tamiya glue to 'melt' the sheet so I could bend it around the axels.

Some basic weathering and a crack at the cowling swirls. It looks average in close up but ok to the naked eye. Perhaps I need to do tighter and more refined swirls next time.

And we get to today where the wings were added - I should be able to start rigging tomorrow. The vertical support for the bracing wires is not glued in yet.  I didn't quite realise how large these Eindeckers were - they're too big for my preferred base for scouts so I have to order an alternative....

cheers all

Looks terrific. The weathering seems just right.
I may steal your idea of the wrapped .005 to make landing gear struts for a Ni25.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

That's looking good. I agree, the swirling could be a little tighter but it's a hard effect to pull off and I also agree it looks great from viewing distance, especially in situ. Nice job all round, this is already a very cool looking build.
