In the meantime, I have painted more small parts and prepared them for installation in the cockpit. And then I tried out bracing the fuselage frame with the elastic thread included in the kit from Modelkasten. The kit also includes very delicate turnbuckles, but I made my own from stretched cotton buds and painted them white. In the original, the turnbuckles were probably wrapped in fabric.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Now the compass, control column and seat with seat belts, painted with oil paints, are installed. Lead wire was added to the control column for the machine gun trigger and auxiliary throttle cables.
For the control cables, I used 0.1 mm rigging cord, which is used by ship model builders.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next, the remaining tensioning of the fuselage frame must be done, and then the whole thing will be installed in the fuselage.

The problem with cotton buds is that you need ones with plastic shafts, and those are hard to find nowadays.
The rigging and control lines in the cockpit are now mostly finished. Anything that's still missing won't be visible once the fuselage is closed. 😉












Before the cockpit can be inserted into the fuselage, the decals must be applied to the fuselage.
The Gothaforce decals can be easily applied in larger pieces using Set and Sol and later adapt perfectly to the surface.

Now the decals are applied to the fuselage. First, I did some subtle preshading.

 

 

 

 


Then the cockpit is pushed into the fuselage. There are pins on the fuselage walls that fit into the holes in the oil tank. To prevent anything from getting caught when pushing it in, the pins are covered with paper.

 

 

The cockpit and hull are now connected; the gap between the frame and side wall disappears when the cockpit coaming is fitted.

 


Because the fuselage walls are so thin and the decals are transparent, there is actually a shine-through effect. You can even see the tension wires when held up to the light. I hadn't thought that was possible before.

 

 


Now the motor can be pressed into the frame. This is also a simple task: the pins on the motor fit into the corresponding holes and everything fits immediately.

We never had the time to truly finish one, at best the Moson sample half naked on one side, decals on the other. So to see this thing now come alive in such a way as you do, hats off Joerg!! You make it shine. Keep rocking, curious about the end result.

I have now applied the decals to the wings. The decals are translucent and can be applied in a similar way to those from Aviattic. There is no need for a primer, as the resin of the wings is white. It is better to work with water only, as this makes the decals much easier to move.
I think the colours of the lozenge are well chosen and harmonise well.



 

Then I started painting the remaining parts such as struts, engine covers and fuselage cover. Shading and weathering still need to be done, so far only a little chipping.



 

When removing the chassis from the sprues, I was once again amazed by the fantastic details. They even thought of the rubber bands for the suspension.

 

 

 

Yellow paint now also on the fuselage, test fitting of parts.
